The Constantine Palace Decor for International Tiger Forum27 december 2010 |
The beginning of construction of series of parks and gardens in Strelna dates back to 1715, when Peter the Great had chosen it as a place for his residence, the beauty and grandeur of which would be capable of throwing the famous Versailles in the shade. In 1797, Paul I gave Strelna to his second son — Grand Duke Constantine Pavlovich. Since then, the palace got its name. Today, it’s a modern complex that consists of a palace, two parks and a variety of buildings and structures. It was
listed by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
To host the Tiger Forum, the façade and interior of the Constantine palace were decorated in line with the corporate identity created in our Studio. The architectural decor of the Palace totally corresponded to the event scenario developed in cooperation with our partner companies.
The interior rooms were divided into several zones: entrance group, exposure to the problem, emotional, informative and working zones, presentation and video presentation area for participating countries.

The central corridor of the Palace was equipped with a symmetrical array of video screens — plasma displays, organized in one module. Each of those displays was demonstrating a multimedia sequence showing tigers in their natural habitats in bright natural colors and against beautiful sceneries.

It’s of great importance to us that the first results of this huge work are being summed here, in our country, in Russia. We consider it as a credit to our achievements with regard to wildlife conservation.

In the area of Forum’s participants, the informative units of each country were equipped with two presentation displays.
At the opposite end of the Palace’s central corridor we have placed
a display demonstratingthe Forum’s logo and picturesque views
of the tiger’s wildlife habitats.

This display of photographs by National Geographic has been specially prepared
for the Forum. The huge, bright images integrated into the Palace’s interior were telling of the tiger’s life in its natural habitat.
The multimedia stands showed how children from all over the world feel in respect of the tiger conservation. As part of the «Youth Speaking Out for Tiger Protection» campaign plenty of video messages were received from children from each corner of our planet. During the Forum days they joined into a single
call to immediate action to save tigers, so that they wouldn’t run the risk of growing up in the world without these beautiful animals.
The principal event of the International Tiger Forum that took place in the Blue Hall of the Constantine Palace chaired by World Bank’s President Robert Zoellick was adoption of Global Program for Tiger Preservation and Declaration of the Heads of Government. These documents have been adopted on the extended plenary meeting, when Prime Ministers of tiger range countries and representatives of major international organizations reported on the issue.
The Blue Hall of the Palace has got all the necessary equipment for the principal plenary meeting.

Thanks to the mutual feedback between tiger range countries and international partners and their mutual responsibility, the collaboration we’re starting now
can become a new model of wildlife conservation.
The World Bank Group takes pride in being accelerator and participant of this process and collaborating with various organizations with vaster experience of wildlife preservation.
The events of the International Forum on Tiger Conservation in Saint Petersburg have been extensively covered by various Russian and foreign mass media.
