Mariinsky Palace Decor for International Tiger Forum28 december 2010 |

The Mariinsky Palace is an important part of the architectural complex of St Isaac’s Square in Saint Petersburg. Together with Winter and Tauride Palaces, it’s one of the three "political" palaces of Saint Petersburg that was a centre of political events in Russia in 1917 and 1991. The Palace was constructed between 1839 and 1844 to a design by the architect Andrei Stackensneider. Emperor Nicholas I gave it as a present to his daughter Maria on the occasion of her marriage to Maximilian, Duke of Leuchtenberg. That was how the Mariinsky Palace got its name.
The Mariinsky Palace has been chosen as a place for major events of the Forum. The official program included plenary meetings, parallel sessions, negotiations, high level segment events, press conferences and briefings.
The exhibition emotional zone welcomed the Forum’s
participants with children’s drawings devoted to the tiger.
Creative exhibition zone.
This display of photographs by National Geographic showing tigers in their natural habitats has been integrated into the Palace’s interior.
The main task for this event was to coordinate actions and efforts of all the sides, taking part in the Global Tiger Initiative. The Palace’s interior decor fell totally in line with the concept of single communicative space for all participating countries, partners and non-governmental organizations, developed by our Studio.

Despite all the difficulties due to lack of time, it was really very interesting to work at such original project as Tiger Forum. It gave me invaluable experience in a new professional sphere and hope I would be able to use it in future.

The team spirit and professionalism of INCONNECT’s staff as Forum’s operator and their partners contributed to the highest level of event organization, despite the tight schedule for preparation and huge amount of responsibilities for each member.

The project is amazing in its grandeur, high quality and realization. I’m glad that a great number of participants from various countries are not indifferent to the destiny of the tiger species under extinction.
