International Tiger Forum Architecture and Brand Concept

27 december 2010

It’s of great importance to us that the first results of this huge work are being summed here, in our country, in Russia. We consider it as a credit to our achievements with regard to wildlife conservation.

Vladimir Putin
Prime Minister
of the Russian Federation

The problem of tiger conservation on our planet has grown into global catastrophe. In the last 100 years, the number of tigers has reduced 25 times — out of 100,000 tigers only 4,000 are left, while this number is still getting smaller due to habitat destruction, poaching, mandatory killing and using of tiger organs in alternative medicine.

Conscious of the necessity to urgently coordinate efforts for tiger conservation, the global organizations — UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme), World Bank and World Wildlife Fund — have come out with so-called Global Tiger Initiative. In 2009, as part of this Initiative, various national and international meetings were held in tiger range countries to develop its conservation strategy ant restore the population. As a result, it was established that Russia would host International forum for tiger conservation at high level in 2010.

The Forum has gathered together over 400 participants, including the prime ministers of 13 countries, state and public figures, official delegations from tiger range countries. Various international organizations were invited to take part in the Forum: WWF, UNEP, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, German development Bank (KfW), IUCN, GEF, WCS, LZS, etc.

Russia is the only tiger range country, where its population has considerably grown since the middle of the last century, and during last 10 years its number is stable with growth potential. Today, Russia is the country with the largest tiger population within one range (450 tigers, or 11% from the worldwide number).

There are only about 4,000
wild tigers left in the world

Forum objectives: to create global system for tiger conservation
and its population growth within its historical habitats and to mobilize worldwide public opinion with regard to tiger protection.

Tiger Branding

To prepare this Forum, our Studio had to complete various organizational, communicative, creative, logistic and informative tasks.

Our solutions were based on the comprehensive analysis of the problem, target audience of the participants, as well as the results of innumerous meetings with our partners, contractors, representatives of different countries, government and international organizations.

At the analytical stage of our work, we have studied all the social and national peculiarities which have greatly influenced project implementation. As a result of the meetings held, we’ve got a comprehensive picture of the Forum perception by participating countries and authorities. It has allowed our Studio to effectively coordinate the organization process.

One of the milestones was to create the Forum’s corporate style.

The logo of Tiger Forum has as its underlying idea the ancient archetype of friendship expressed in various cultures by hand touch. In the logo, it becomes the symbol of man and tiger approximation and people’s good intentions towards the tiger.

Intuitive and simple to perceive, this logo expresses the basic idea of the Forum: "Only a man can help tigers survive".

Forum Identity

Tiger is a big, strong animal. In today’s urbanized world, there’re less and less places where it can live. People with their own hands have led tigers to the verge of extension, and only people can change the situation. We should reconsider our historical mistakes and literally give a helping hand to the tiger. It is this image that underlies Tiger Forum’s logo and has become a keynote idea of our work.

This project presupposes very diligent and effort-taking work. Each detail is important, each can play the crucial role, while some silly mistake can cost someone’s job, thus we had no right to make such mistakes. Everything was thoroughly checked and rechecked, and it passed without a hitch, so we’re satisfied with the result.

Tigers in the City

The principal result to achieve is awakening of public opinion... Such problems can only be tackled with joined efforts of government, environmental organizations, business, public organizations and all people at large.

In the wildlife the tiger can be found in 13 countries. In Russia, its population is the largest in one range, while its number is stable with growth potential. To preserve the most beautiful predator in the world, we should coordinate our efforts and prevent its extinction.

Yuriy Trutnev
Minister of the Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation

The situation, in which tigers are now, is almost catastrophic. During the last century its population in the wildlife has decreased nearly 30 times. So Russia is ready to collaborate and cooperate with everyone who realizes their responsibility for nature protection.

Vladimir Putin
Prime Minister
of the Russian Federation

Tiger is the top element of the foodchain, its crown, the main predator. So all other species which stand lower on this social ladder are also under protection as the tiger is a sort of dominant of the wildlife sector that stands lower.
